Or,
what I did on my holidays..
18.3.07 –
That’s what you call it when
you’re not working isn’t it? But it turns out I wasn’t going
anywhere on either of my unwelcome weeks off. Last weekend Chris
and I toyed with the idea of doing Moomba, but after glimpsing
the predictable swings and rides (pic 1) elected to
drive to Black Rock and have fish ‘n’ chips instead. On Thursday
I took the tram into town and met Dick in town for lunch (pic
2)
to plan the shoot for Saturday, (the Rudds and I are
entrants in the Pigdon Short Film Festival this year). We were
very grateful to have my old mate Bill Dettmer allow us the
use of his ambulance for my dying scene*, and a couple of hours
after we rolled up at the ambulance depot we had more than enough
on film to edit down to a respectable minute or so.
I had to be in Heidelberg at 4.00 to do an interview with Colin
Rochford on Inner FM (pic 6) – while we were on air
Colin surprised me by downloading one of our songs (Hot,
Hot Day)
off the site and playing it on air. How modern
is that?
* My dying scene seemed appropriate
to my mood yesterday. A great friend of mine from the dog world,
one that is not a stranger to these pages in fact, is gone,
presumed euthanased. I can’t begin to tell you how this has
affected me and all his other friends, but there may be a positive
to emerge from this vale of tears. I’ve had this bluesy song
idea sitting round for ages. It hasn’t got any lyrics, but it
has always been called Black Dog. I think I know where it’s
going now..
