1966-70

MELBOURNE FESTIVAL- FINAL WEEKEND

Community Radio 3CR’s Tomorrow Is Today festival comes
to a close this coming weekend with a number of events
beginning with an exhibition at Dante’s Upstairs
Gallery (150-156 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy). Running
from Friday October 27 to Sunday October 29 and open
from noon to 5pm daily the exhibition will feature
band photos, collectables, films, fashion items and
more.

On Friday October 27 from 7pm at Dantes the
Tomorrow Is Today guide to the music and culture of
the late 60s will be launched with guest speakers
including Spectrum’s Mike Rudd. Later that night 60s
dance night Blow Up! will celebrate their fourth
birthday with a party at Pony (68 Little Collins
Street, City) featuring The Breadmakers and The Town
Bikes.

On Sunday 29th from 7pm Bar Open (317 Brunswick
Street) will play host to a film night featuring films
about Wendy Saddington, Spectrum, Daddy Cool, Pip
Proud and more with Spectrum closing the night.
Closing the festival will be another film night, this
time at The Tote (corner Wellington and Johnston
streets, Collingwood) with videos and films from
Melbourne’s 1980s and 1990s garage and psychedelic
revival including footage of Tyrnaround, The Fudds,
The Preverts, The Freeloaders, The A1 Mining Company
and more.

A limited number of advance copies of the book have
arrived and will be available from the events for $30
or from 3CR for $40 including postage. The book will
be available from bookstores in mid November.
